Skin Care Routine

So, like many of you I have struggled over the years trying to figure out my skin.  I am fortunate to have never suffered from severe acne but from time to time will get a hormonal blemish around that time of the month. I used to try to compensate by over washing my face and loading it up with creams..well that just made it worse.

Finally, for the first time in my life (when I was like 20 ha! – I don’t know what took me so long) I went to a dermatologist for a skin/mole exam and asked about the best skin care routines. To my surprise they didn’t recommend one of the overly prices skincare routines (step 1, step 2, step 3..blah, blah, blah) you read about. They recommended CereVe cleanser and moisturizer and I am obsessed! You can buy it from your local grocery store, CVS, Walgreens, Amazon and it is less than 10 dollars…umm hello winning!

So, here is my daily routine and what I recommend is not changing this for your wedding day. You want to stick with what works. If it is not broken..you know don’t fix it. I have read so many horror stories about people changing up their skin care routine and doing some crazy things before the big day which then lead to breakouts and no one wants that.  However, I did have an amazing friend gift me a facial before we got married..which was amazing.  I just asked for something very hydrating and non-invasive because I didn’t want breakouts. Just be sure to set clear expectations if you want to spoil your skin before.

My daily routine:

Step 1: AM – Just water in the shower (no soap) — Since I just washed my face at night I don’t want to dry out my skin.

Step 2: After the shower I moisturize with this amazing stuff. CeraVe Facial Lotion AM + it has SPF..which is a must ladies. (AKA no wrinkles)

Step 3: PM – After a long day of workouts, makeup, the ecosystem, etc.. YOU HAVE TO WASH YOUR FACE. Even on nights I go out and have a couple of cocktails I always wash my face. I sleep better with fresh skin and it is so important!

My face wash is the bomb.com –  CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser. I use the one for normal to dry skin but if your skin is oily they have an option for that as well.

Step 4: This is where I experiment with fun night creams and serums. My skin is not that sensitive so I can try different night creams without my skin freaking out. But if you have sensitive skin CeraVe has an awesome night cream I would recommend.  Here are some of my favorite options below. I am obsessed with everything anti-aging… and this is where I get creative. 😉

I hope this helps!
