Scottie Lynn’s Birth Story

As each day passed and we got closer and closer to her due date..this mama was doing everything to get baby girl to come..stair stepper, walking, spicy food, pineapple..you name it..we tried it! 😉 But little miss just stayed put and looking back I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. On my due date, April 19th I finished a workout at the gym and just started crying (happy tears) because I felt so blessed to carry our sweet girl for 40 weeks. I didn’t want to take that moment for granted. I loved the entire process of growing our baby girl. I appreciate my body more than I ever have. It brought us our baby! After my last OBGYN appointment, my Dr. and I discussed induction dates just in case little miss didn’t want to come on her own. My family tends to have larger babies so my Dr. didn’t want me to go to far over my due date. We decided on Monday, April 22nd at 6:00 PM to start the process if she didn’t come by then! That weekend came and went and baby girl was still happy in my belly..so eviction notice was given! lol We were so excited and ready to meet our baby girl!

Monday morning Greg and I went to the gym, cleaned up the house, and then I went to get my nails done, and grabbed lunch for us on the way home. We ate lunch and started to pack the car. It looked like we were staying for the entire week at the hospital but I wanted to make sure we had everything. We took a few last videos and pictures just the two of us and made our way to the hospital. I thought I would be so anxious but I was more excited than anything! #LETSDOTHIS

We got checked into our room, I put on the sexy gown, and the nurse gave me my IV. We then waited for our Dr. and she put in the cervidil and a  foley bulb (a balloon) to help me dilate as quickly as possible. My mom, dad, sister, brother-in-law, and Greg’s mom came that evening and brought us dinner. My contractions already started before they left that night! At 3:00 AM the foley bulb was removed (which meant I was close to a 4 centimeters dilated) and the Pitocin was started. I was able to get a little sleep that night before the big contractions started! By around 7:00 AM I was in serious pain and working through contractions every 2 minutes with my husband right by my side! I was able to get to 6 centimeters without meds but this mama was like give me the epidural after that! At around 8:45 AM I was given the epidural and it was AH-MAZ-ING.

My entire family arrived a little after 9:30 AM and I was feeling so wonderful at that point..thank the good Lord for epidurals. I was able to enjoy time with my family patiently waiting to get to 10 centimeters. At 11:11 AM the nurse checked me and said you’re at 10 let’s have this baby. Tears filled my eyes..I was moments away from meeting my sweet girl. We were all hanging out and Greg was in the waiting room with some of our family so I called him and told him “babe we are at a 10” ..we both clearly didn’t think it would happen that fast.

The nurse said let’s do a few practice pushes before the Dr. gets here. Well let’s just say the practice pushes lasted about 2 seconds because baby was ready to come! We waited patiently for our Dr. to arrive and then it was GAME TIME! My mom, sister, sister-in-law, and hubby were all in the room when our sweet little miracle entered the world. It only took 4 pushes with the help of my love to get our 8 pounds, 20 inches of pure perfection out into the world. I guess the stair stepper helped after all! LOL

All of our hearts grew bigger on April 23rd, 2019 at 12:26 PM as Scottie Lynn Davis entered our world. I truly never knew I could love so hard.  As our Dr. put her on my chest tears flooded my eyes. For months I dreamt about this day, this moment, and it was better than I could even imagine. Not only did my heart grow that day because of her but it also fell more in love with my husband. We made this sweet girl and no two other people could have made her. I wish I could put into words the love I have for my sweet family. I soaked in every second of our skin to skin time and mother nature is truly a beautiful thing because Scottie was ready to nurse shortly after her delivery. Again, a moment I will never forget.

After a few hours passed we got moved to our postpartum recovery room where we got enjoy time as a family of 3.  That night Greg and I got to give Scottie her first bath and put her fresh clothes on her that we brought. We enjoyed our recovery time as our immediate families came and spoiled us all with love.  {Fun fact – I never left that room. Greg brought me water and our families brought us food. Clearly, I was a stage 5 cling mom already!} LOL

Then it was time to leave the hospital.. Greg packed us up as I took a shower and got Scottie Lynn ready to go. We then put her in her carseat and loaded up our sweet girl into the car. Our greatest adventure was about to begin.. My heart could not be more full! I thank God every day for this family of mine. I want to be a better person because of her. She is our world and I am not taking any moment with her for granted…even the sleepless nights. I know someday I will look back and would do anything to relive them all over.

Thank you all for your continued love and prayers through this journey! It has truly just begun.

XO,

The Davis Family
